Joan Manén. New Corporate Image and Branding Strategy. 2020 — Media

Cristià-Blasi is currently directing the publicity strategy, promotion and new corporate image for the “Associació Joan Manén”. This not-for-profit organization is dedicated to the recovery and dissemination of Catalan musical heritage and was inspired by the composer and violinist J. Manén who was one of the most important Catalan musicians of the 20th century.

Manén’s earliest relationship with music was through the violin. That instrument opened the doors to the great halls of Europe to him. Being only twenty, self-taught and not belonging to any school, the virtuoso Manén started along a path that would lead him to be a prestigious musical interpreter and composer in both Europe and America.

To create a new logo for the organisation, Cristià-Blasi focused on representing the remarkable task that the association has undertaken, not only in recuperating Catalan composers but putting their work back into circulation to become part of the repertoire of renowned performers and top level orchestras. The logo, though, takes the brand beyond the character: on one side, it draws inspiration from the violin due to the importance that it had for Manén; on the other side, it can be altered so as to represent each one of the association’s tasks and events.

In fact, the association has taken advantage of all the events surrounding the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Manen’s death - 2021 will be the Year of Manén-  to undertake the improvement and modernisation of aspects of the organisation and its publicity strategy, including the re-design of its website by the Studio. For the commemoration, a new series of concerts is being prepared with the aim of bringing the composer a new social status and acknowledgment. For this reason, the association will count on the collaboration of both the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Auditori.

It is worth mentioning that this project goes far beyond a commercial relationship since Ignasi Cristià is a member of the board of the Association and, therefore, the Studio decided to undertake the communicating strategy for free.
